Minecraft on Mac OS Sierra does not open, not even the launcher

I wanted to open up minecraft to play the 1.19 update since I have not played in a while, but upon start up, the game showed the launcher with my account, which I clicked, but then it would not load. I then closed the launcher and tried to restart it but now, whenever I click the launcher to open, the launcher briefly appears in my dock then disappears and nothing happens.

I am using a Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 and it has worked in the past. 

I have tried to redownlad minecraft but the same issues persist. The game opens for a second in the doc, then closes with no further actions happening.

I have tried clicking around and I saw something say "native launcher not found" or something, could that be related? Thanks
