End cities stopped generating

When I press /locate end_city, things in the game just stops working (e.g. fireworks won't blast, elytra never stops flying, and void doesn't kill me)

When I try to look for an end city I can't find one anywhere and I always reach this weird farlands kind of thing where the outer end just abruptly stops and as soon as I go over that border, everything disappears
