Launcher not recognizing game ownership

For the entirety of the day - 18hours - I have been unable to play Minecraft.  I have booted up the launcher for it only to tell me that I can only play the demo.  FAQ suggested that I check to see if I owned the game (I know I do because I've played it for months with no issues).  The Minecraft account does not give me an option to log in.
