"Hide Lightning Flashes: ON" still shows flashes
The bug
During thunderstorms, the accessibility setting "Hide Lightning Flashes" does not disable flashing.
What it should do when enabled is:
- disable sky flashing during thunderstorms (like in 1.17)
What it does instead is:
- very slightly lowers the contrast and brightness of the flashes
- causes a dim flash over the surface of blocks within render distance and under the sky.
I have included a screenshot of my system information, though I am not sure if this would help with finding the issue, if it does I would be glad.
This issue is of particular importance to me because I experience epileptic seizures from loud noises and flashing lights.
I can use resource packs to disable the sound of thunder, but I can not use resource packs to disable the sky flashing when there is a thunderstorm.
Simply disabling weather cycle is not an option for multiplayer, and lack of weather change in singleplayer removes the possibility of some features.
Reproduction steps
- In the accessibility settings, set "Hide Lightning Flashes: ON"
- Open any world
- Set the time to midnight
/time set midnight
- Summon a lightning bolt above or close to you
/summon minecraft:lightning_bolt ~ ~100 ~
The surrounding blocks flash
