Blocks/objects disappearing temporarily

I'm running a modded 1.12.2 game (around 40 mods) and when looking in a specific direction things like chests, water, banners etc. disappear. The higher the render distance the more they disappear. I've tried playing with the settings but nothing seems to be working. I doubt it is a mod compatibility problem as I've played a little before, only with more mods, after deleting some to increase performance this bug appeared.
