Villager disapeared after afk in farm weird things happening to my world

When i went afk for a few hours i found my villagers had disappeared and they were in a completely safe area. before that happened i noticed at night time instead of going to sleep, my villagers just stood on their beds and gave off green particles, after further investigation i found that the villager's beds were occupied(found during day). please help my world gameplay was based around these guys they had jobs if that helps.
