Ghost Item from Creative in Survival

So I was just playing around in creative and I noticed the cool feature where if you close the
creative menu while having an item selected and then open it again, the item you selected will still be there then I had an idea and that was to select an item, close the menu and then switch to survival and open the survival menu, and the item I had selected was still there! when I tried to place it down in my inventory, it stayed for a split second then disappeared just like a ghost. This bug isn't game breaking but it's something I think I should tell you. Thanks
