Elytra Rocket problems

Everytime I use a rocket while flying with the elytra it stops the boost seconds after using it, freezes for a moment, then switches the speed of flying to as if I had only jumped off something. It happens on and off. I was trying to load new chunks, but while in loaded chunks prior to 1.18 it seemed to be working perfectly fine.
