Animals Won't Stop Running After Being Hit

If I hit an animal or throw something at it, it starts running and won't stop. This bug can happen to pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, and mooshrooms, and can happen in all game modes.

What I expected to happen was:
I would hit the animal and it would start running, but stop after a short while

What actually happened was:
The animal started running and never stopped

Steps to reproduce this problem:
1: Find/spawn a pig, sheep, cow, chicken, or mooshroom
2: Hit or throw something at these animals to make them start running
3: Watch the animals run around and never stop
