Not allowing me to open or play the program

What I expected to happen was...:
I click on the icon, it to come up with the log in screen and allow me to play on or offline.
What actually happened was...:
I click on the icon, it make my colours on screen change and come up with
minecraft launcher 1.0.8which i follow but keep saying error and not opening the program for me to even play it.
Steps to Reproduce:
I do not know if there a bug or an error in the programming
