placed barrier not rendering as it is held

so I was playing the prerelease for 1.18 and i use command blocks barriers etc. I place a barrier and as I place it its there but even as I hold the barrier it doesn't render but the outline does. So idk why it works this way but still its weird.

just resolved. it was because particles were set to minimal.
