Trying to log into server on same network doesn't work

I tried to log on to a sever, run by a pc, on my network.
Tried IPv4 and no-ip, both returned "Can't Reach Server"
I also tried hamachi. at first it seemed like it worked, but when i logged on, i was stuck in a block, not suffocating. i broke the block but it didn't drop, and I'd assume that's a mis-communication between server and client.
