Potion effects do not appear when entering a crafting table. Bug or intentional?

The new method of displaying potion effects is great, but why does it disappear when entering the crafting table interface? The recipe book interface is even bigger than it and is displayed, it would be nice if it were displayed in any interface, i.e furnace/dropper.
