Inconsistent behavior of splash potions interacting with honey blocks

Splash potions that get thrown at a wall of honey blocks by a player (facing the exact same way and not moving) impact it at different points. Look at the video.

 

In hindsight, I really should've had F3 open, but I think it's pretty clear I wasn't moving the mouse.
