Villager can't take up food in old worlds

Villagers won't take up food in very old worlds (alpha) and therefore can't reproduce.

Also does not work if I spawn new villagers from a spawn egg.

 

EDIT: I accidentally set the gamerule "mobGriefing" to false. Setting this to true made my villagers act normal again. This issue is therefore fixed now.
