witches spawned with spawn egg despawn

I was on creative mode and I built a witch hut myself; then I spawned a witch in it with the spawn egg. I flew around in a nearby biome and when I came back, the witch had despawned. I have tried many times, but it keeps happening. I even fenced the witch in its hut once and it still despawned when I left it to go into another biome.
