Enderman vanishing doors

Have been building and have placed a number of doors. Occasionally, I've noticed some doors have inexplicably no longer been where I placed them - they've vanished.

Later, I was walking past one of the doors with some Endermen around, and one of them teleported right next to the door. The door disappeared and the Enderman walked away - but with nothing visible in his hands. I tried to kill him to see if he'd drop a door but he teleported away and never returned for more.

Uncertain if the Enderman is actually stealing the door, or if the game is replacing the door blocks with the Enderman as he teleports into that space.
