Minecraft Launcher won't open Minecraft

Whenever I open the Minecraft launcher and press start, Minecraft will either open, but say not responding, or never open. Whenever either of these happen it still shows up in task manager. This has been happening for 6 months, but I now want it fixed to play the new update.

My way around not being able to play Minecraft is to use Lunar Client. Lunar Client is a PVP client that I use to play 1.8.9 on Hypixel. They don't have 1.17 added in Lunar Client yet.

 

Anybody know how to fix this?
