Chunks not loading in 1.17 after wandering away from spawn

**Brand new worlds, I get to a certain point of wandering away from spawn, and it stops loading chunks, items don't pop in to my inventory, and mobs freeze. What can I do? it's happened every single time now.

Also tried using William Wyther's Overhauled 1.17 with the same result.
