minecraft shuts down after i type in the chat

every time i type in the chat my minecraft shuts down

What I expected to happen was...:
it would be fixed on its own

What actually happened was...:
it continued to not work and i cant type in the chat

Steps to Reproduce:
1. log into minecraft
2. ...join a server
3. ...type in the chat and enter
