my skin is stuck as Steve

Hello, so I started playing the new Minecraft: Caves and Cliffs update when I realized that my skin that I had was stuck as a Steve. I then checked the launcher to see that I had my skin equipped and I did so I restarted Minecraft to see that me skin was still a Steve. How can I fix this.
