Function keys for the Apple Touch Bar

As of 1.17, I am no longer able to assign the function keys to be shown on the Touch Bar of my M1 MacBook Pro. I was able to do this in previous versions (through doing this: https://www.ravbug.com/tutorials/mc-touchbar/ ) but I have tried this again since the release of 1.17 and it hasn't worked.
