Raining when in cave

Started raining underground in the jungle

What I expected to happen was...:
I expected to hear the rain, but not see the rain fall in a completely enclosed mine

What actually happened was...:

Started getting the rain partials when a thunderstorm started even though I was at y=11 

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make it thunder while in the jungle?
