Extra hearts from health boost are damaged randomly

Whenever I have a health boost level of 3 or more, I noticed that every 20 second or so, any health that is not on the hearts that are not my default 10 is removed, or damaged. It makes a movement on my screen, the twitch like I am taking damage, and loose all the health on those hearts.
