Extended piston without redstone power

I was creating a redstone circuit when I noticed a piston was powered even if the redstone block is 2 block above it, then I searched here and found that this is "intentional", but I started testing and this happend: there's absolutely no power and it's frozen in activated state until it gets updated. This happens with both sticky and normal piston.
