Huge black shadow line across my world

My world has a huge black shadow area right across it.  There's nothing in the sky to cause a shadow, but it definitely is shadow because if I stand inside it and place a torch, the area lights up as if it was night.  Changing video options makes no difference and I'm using the latest nVidia graphics driver.
