Potato glitch

I was in superflat desert when I discovered a village. I was making a map and I decided to get rid of the crops for fun. I jumped on an potato plant that was fully grown, and the dirt reverted to normal, but the potato plant stayed there as if nothing happened. This also applies to carrots. The first screenshot will be a carrot and the second will be a potato.
