Mobs Continue to Target Players Upon Switching Gamemodes

Upon being "targeted" by a mob in survival, whilst switching to creative, the mob will continue to have you as a target. I would think you could, upon switching to creative, re-search for a new target, but I am not sure how Minecraft works in its targeting system.
