Server Resource Pack Support Not Available

In the server.properties file for a minecraft 1.6.1 server, there is only an option for a texture pack despite the fact that texture packs no longer exist as of minecraft 1.6. I do not know if this has been kept out of multiplayer for a reason, or if this was a mistake.
