Bonemealing big dripleaf in flowing water doesn't update the water

When you bonemeal a big dripleaf which is in water that is flowing down, it can make still water that is sideways, or it can hold up the water without it flowing down(easier to see if you look at the images) The dripleaf also gets dark when it is in water for some reason

Reproduce

• Build a contraption like one in the video/images below
• Bonemeal the Big Dripleaf in the contraption a bit
  Notice that the water doesn't update
