When I say something on a multiplayer server my minecraft crashes

Well first i would normally load up the new 1.6.1 luancher and load up minecraft normally.
then i would log on to a server or join and then start playing.
the when i want to type something in the chat it just crashes and doesnt say anything that i typed.
