Lava won't run

So...
This happened.
I was down in the caves, mining diamonds happily and getting rich. But then...
I saw some lava. I was afraid it might run down and ruin my cat disk playing.
But it just stayed there, on the roof of the cave, doing...
nothing. Nothing but nothing.
