Game not responding

When I go into my Minecraft Launcher and hit play, a new tab comes up where it says Mojang with a red loading bar. The bar will load to about halfway or a little over halfway and than completely stop. When I X out of it, it says that the page is not responding and it won't load me into the game. I have tried multiple methods including uninstalling and reinstalling the game and others but nothing works. I just purchased the game today and all I want to do is play is there any way somebody could please help me.
