anything before 1.13 crashes in the launcher

so i went into the launcher and chose a april fools version that was 1.12 version amd then t crashed imeditly and ive tesed on 1.11 and older versions but it prevents me from using them also the reason i chose 1.16.5 is beacause it only let me chose that and the latest snapshot
