System crashes when enlarging view window

System crashes when I attempt to enlarge the view window

What I expected to happen was...:
In the previous OSX version with MC v. 1.5.2, when I enlarged the window by dragging the corner, the view area enlarged as it should.

What actually happened was...:
Now, since the update to 1.6.1 with the new Minecraft Launcher, when I drag a corner to enlarge the window, first the window graphics break up and get staticy, then the whole system crashes requiring a re-boot.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run from MC Launcher
2. At MC start screen, left-click any corner of the window
3. drag to enlarge window
4. cry pitifully as system crashes to gray screen
5. hit any key to reboot
