Java won't open on macbook pro

Recently i installed minecraft on my macbook pro, i downloaded the file and put it in my applications like i do with all of my apps. Excitedly i went to to play and i was disappointed by my minecraft not launching but instead just bobbing up and down.

i tried everything the websites said, i tried deleting it completely and re-downloading it, i put recommended codes into the terminal, updating my mac and restarting it and nothing has worked.   

this is my last resort before i go to get a refund. 

Please help. (also im not sure which version i am on)
