Can't place or destroy blocks

I was playing survival then I changed to creative mode and destroyed some blocks and when I changed back to adventure mode I couldn't place or destroy blocks. I could hit mobs that's all i could do. Please help or fix this. I tried to restart minecraft but it didn't work.
