Water level slopes downwards even when the water block is not flowing

When placing a non-flowing water block in a 1x1 block space, a corner of the water level is lower even when the water isn't flowing.

 

To reproduce: place water in a 1x1 block space (doesn't seem to happen with larger spaces). Notice how one corner of the water is lower.
