Clicking is glitched : placing blocks/torches, using shield/firing bow

In my single-player Minecraft world, over time, my clicks become more and more glitched.
At first, I noticed placing torches and blocks would occasionally place twice on a single click.

The problem grew and now firing a bow, raising a shield, and eating beef all stutter while I have the button held. The problem seems to smooth itself out after holding the button down for awhile, but this makes creepers and skeletons really dangerous!
Block and torches double-place glitch maybe 1/8 to 1/4 the time.

The problem also became more pronounced after dying with some loot including maps.
And became more pronounced after watching a Twitch stream at the same time.
