Mojang Account?

When I went to go install mods for my game so I can play with friends on his world in java edition, it required me to have a Mojang account. No problem. Went to minecraft.net multiple times and I cannot make a mojang account no matter what I do. Every time that I try to make a mojang account, it just gives me the incentive to go sign in with my microsoft account. I dont want to make or sign in with my microsoft because I need a mojang account to sign in with. I still have no idea how to make a mojang account. Why do I need to sign in with a microsoft account and why is there no way to make a mojang account inside of my microsoft account so that I can have both?
