Unable to use shift key in game

Hi, So I've been having some issues with Minecraft ever since I reinstalled it a month ago or so where I cannot use my shift key at all. This means I can't use it to crouch or shift-click items in my inventory. I've already made sure that I'm not on touchscreen mode and when I go to rebind it, it works just fine. I'm also able to bind crouch back to the shift key without resetting the input in the controls menu. I've already tried uninstalling then reinstalling the game but nothing seems to work and I'm at a loss as to whats causing this.
