Game gets stuck on red Mojang screen

Every time I try and load up the game I get as far as the red Mojang loading screen but then, no matter how long I leave it, it will not go past this screen. I have updated everything as suggested by others but nothing is working. It just comes up as Error, Game Crashed, An unexpected issue has occurred. We're sorry for any inconvenience. Exit Code 0
