Mobs are able to hit you through blocks

Mobs like zombies are somehow able to hit you through blocks. basically imagine a o shape without the corners, for some reason they are able to hit you through the little slit between the 2 blocks. I've died too many times to this and they need to fix it already its been in this game probably since the start.
