I set randomtickspeed to the highest number, 999999... and here's what I got

I was just playing around in my minecraft world when I just made the randomtickspeed 999999+ and I started gliding on the ground with my elytra and I couldn't make myself creative even though cheats were on.. I could fly over one block, but I was still on the ground. What's happening and how can I fix this?
