Software Will Not Launch

My daughter purchased this version for her Macbook Air and the software runs with the pinwheel of death but will not actually launch on her computer. Currently running Mac Big Sur 11.1 and the latest version of Java and yet this program will not launch at all. I cannot make adjustments in Minecraft Launcher due to the Mac OSX pinwheel spinning. Please advise.
