Horse Armor / Saddles

When i try to make iron armor for my 3 horses i put the same as on the wiki but it does not work i tried different colored wool and i also tried gold but it would not be created maybe i was looking at a false website like i was for the hey bale. Also i looked at the same page to create a saddle but it did not craft.
