Dripstone caves generate merging dripstones in impossible ways

The bug

Pointed dripstones generate "merging" tips, even when it's impossible. This can cause pointed dripstone stalagmites that don't do damage when jumping on them. Any block update next to an impossibly merging stalactite/stalagmite will cause it to unmerge.
