Comparator emits a pulse only when in certain direction in certain chunks

How to reproduce:
1) re-create the circuit in the first image
2) place four of them, one in each direction, in two chunks, in some chunks the circuit could work along the same direction
3) power the circuits

What was expected: the comparator circuit should have briefly powered the piston in front of them

What happened: only one of the four circuit actually powered the piston and only along the west/east axis
