I can't break blocks or attack when crouching

I'm having a problem where whenever I am crouching, I can't attack anyone or break blocks, it just acts like my right click and places blocks that were in my offhand, or act like a normal right click. I normally use control to crouch and shift to sprint, but the issue occurs with default controls as well.
