Villager does not go through netherportal

I had foun a zombievillager in an cave. I changed him to a villager. I tried to take him to my base via a netherportal. But for some reason he did not go to the nether. I thought this might be a serverproblem. So i tried it on a local survivalworld. It did not work their either.
